I invite you to attend attend the 20th Annual Canadian Society of Echocardiography Weekend from April 12- 14, 2018 at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel. We have developed an exciting educational program for you celebrating our 20th anniversary with a special look at Echocardiography Past, Present and Future on Thursday evening. This will be followed by two case-based packed days of learning and interaction with colleagues, friends and experts from across Canada.
The Annual Canadian Echo Weekend is designed around your needs and requests over the past nineteen meetings. We will focus on common clinical problems encountered in your practice and the important role that echocardiography plays in diagnosis and patient management. Novel and evolving technologies to enhance your diagnostic capabilities and improve patient care will be highlighted.
We are excited to bring to you this year THREE different ticketed hands-on workshops 3D Echocardiography Made Simple!, 2-Dimensional Strain Analysis, and POCUS (Point of care ultrasound) for Non-Cardiac Indications (lungs, vessels). The aim of the workshops are to enable the participant to get an introduction to 3D dataset manipulation for ventricular and valvular analysis, to learn how to do 2D strain in common clinical applications, and to introduce the cardiac ultrasound user to imaging for lung comets, pleural effusion and vascular abnormalities. We have recruited Canadian leaders to lead these sessions using equipment from both GE and Philips. The sessions are limited to 13 people each to allow sufficient interaction and support.
In addition to top-tier Canadian speakers, this year’s guest speakers include Professor Bogdan Popescu, President of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), who will be presenting a comprehensive and cutting edge talk on The Role of Echocardiography in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Dr. Allan Klein, a Montreal native and Immediate Past President of the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), who will be presenting on pericardial diseases, after chairing the ASE’s Pericardial Diseases guidelines document. Our Young Echocardiographers of Canada, led by Drs. Christine Henri and François Tournoux, will be hosting an Echo Jeopardy Tournament and a Research Poster Competition for trainees.
The faculty is looking forward to seeing you again this year at the 20th Annual Canadian Society of Echocardiography Weekend.
At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the current role and application of echocardiography in patients with suspected and overt cardiac disease
- Identify how novel and evolving echocardiography techniques can be applied to the clinical practice of echocardiography
- Describe how echocardiography integrates with other cardiac imaging modalities to optimally evaluate the patient with suspected or confirmed cardiovascular disease
