Hi there. I'm hoping someone out there can lend me some advice. I am very interested in echocardiography. I currently hold a BSc in Biology and Chemistry and have been accepted into a cardiology technology program. However, I have noticed there are 2 routes I can go with regard to becomming an echocardiographer - first, becomming a cardiac tech, and the second, becoming a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

Can anyone advise me as to the best route to pursue? Will I have a more challenging time finding work with one route as opposed to the other? Is their a major difference between cardiac sonography and diagnostic medical sonography (pay, job outlook etc...).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Wanda
